ARPA-E Welcomes New Director Lane Genatowski

This week, Energy Secretary Rick Perry swore in Lane Genatowski as the new Director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). Mr. Genatowski was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate along with other Senior Department of Energy nominees, and will lead ARPA-E effective immediately.

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) announced up to $20 million in funding to accelerate the incorporation of machine learning and artificial intelligence into energy technology and product design processes.

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced $36 million in awards for 18 projects as part of the High Intensity Thermal Exchange through Materials and Manufacturing Processes (HITEMMP) program, as well as the final OPEN+ Cohort, High Temperature Devices. These project teams seek to develop new approaches and technologies for the design and manufacture of high temperature, high pressure, and highly compact heat exchangers and components.
